Our new toll road, Highway 183A, makes travel from downtown Austin to North Austin and the suburban communities of Cedar Park and Leander fast and convenient.  There are many neighborhoods on the north side of town with amenities and prices to appeal to the first-time buyer.  Within Austin itself, on the north side, first-time homebuyers can find homes built in the 1970s and 1980s in the $100,000 to $150,000 range.  Traveling northward on the Highway 183 or tollway 183A, a newer mix of affordable homes can be found in that same price range, but built in the 1980s and 1990s.  In Leander, in 2008, it is possible for a first-time home buyer to obtain a brand new three bedroom home for as little as $116,000.  With interest rates at an all time low, and prices this attractive, it is a strategic time to move into the housing market.
